Over 200 screened for free cataract surgery in Cebu City

More than 200 Cebu City residents underwent screening on June 5 for free cataract surgery and leg prosthesis assistance organized by the city government.

The screening took place at the Cebu City Hall Social Hall. Organizers had expected around 200 participants based on pre-registration but the turnout exceeded that figure. Dan Lopez of the City Hospitalization Assistance and Medicines Program said all who arrived would be accommodated. The assessment process for cataract surgery beneficiaries will run from June to December this year. Raychie M. Lomongon noted that applicants must complete a cardiopulmonary assessment and obtain medical clearance. The city has allocated 350 million pesos to the program this year. Mayor Nestor Archival Sr. visited the venue to support participants.
