Pas-de-Calais: man to stand trial for rapes and violence in alleged harem

A 45-year-old man, Jérôme P., will appear from Monday before the Pas-de-Calais criminal court on charges of rape and violence against his partner, their children and two other women.

The case broke on 22 November 2022 when a woman filed a complaint at the Écuires gendarmerie. She described a climate of control with camera surveillance and geolocation, as well as rapes since 2017. Jérôme P. lived with three women, whose relationships allegedly began when they were adolescents. The accused has been in provisional detention since late 2022 and denies the facts, which he calls a “complot”. The complainant’s lawyer, Fabienne Roy-Nansion, told AFP that polygamy was common in the accused’s family. The trial is due to run until Thursday in Saint-Omer.
