Paul Schrader likes idea for Taxi Driver sequel with AI girlfriend

Screenwriter Paul Schrader has expressed interest in a sequel to his 1976 film Taxi Driver that would feature the character Travis Bickle pursuing a relationship with an artificial intelligence companion.

The concept emerged from a discussion on Schrader's official Facebook page. He first described his own experience trying to interact with an online AI girlfriend, noting his disappointment when the program redirected questions and eventually ended the conversation after he probed its limits on explicit topics and self-awareness.
