The BIPE unit of Chile's PDI rescued a Peruvian clothing merchant kidnapped on Wednesday in Estación Central, Santiago, and found her in good condition in Cerro Navia. Prosecutors will formalize charges against four detainees: two Chileans and two Venezuelans. Meanwhile, police investigate the kidnapping of hardware businessman Jorge Vera, which took place on Tuesday in San Miguel.

On Wednesday at around 19:30, the victim arrived at her home on 5 de abril with Jotabeche streets in Estación Central with her partner on a motorcycle. Four men in a white vehicle beat her, forced her inside, and fired shots into the air, witnesses said. Her husband was held at gunpoint and sent a desperate WhatsApp audio to neighbors requesting security camera footage.

The BIPE, alongside Fiscalía ECOH, negotiated her release after nearly 24 hours in captivity. She was found in good condition in Cerro Navia on Thursday. Detectives arrested four suspects involved in the kidnapping.

Meanwhile, 84-year-old insulin-dependent Jorge Vera was intercepted on Tuesday in El Llano, San Miguel, by three vehicles while driving his truck home. Sources say the kidnappers demand a multimillion-peso ransom and note Vera's role as an informal lender. His family highlighted his need for medication.

The PDI continues investigations into both cases, monitored by Security Minister Trinidad Steinert.
