Pebble announces Round 2 smartwatch sequel

Pebble has unveiled the Round 2, a sequel to its 2015 Time Round smartwatch that addresses key flaws from the original. The new model promises over two weeks of battery life and modern features like AI integration. Priced at $199, it is available for pre-order with shipping set for May.

Pebble, the smartwatch pioneer that made a surprise return in 2025, has announced the Pebble Round 2, reviving its round-faced design while fixing the original's shortcomings. The 2015 Pebble Time Round was praised for its thin profile and round display but criticized for short battery life, large bezels, durability issues, and a high $249 price tag.

The Round 2 improves on these with a 1.3-inch color e-paper touchscreen at 260 x 260 pixels, now edge-to-edge without bezels, bonded to the glass for reduced glare, and offering better viewing angles. It measures just 8.1mm thick, retaining the elegant slimness. Battery life extends to more than two weeks on a single charge, far surpassing competitors like Apple and Google watches. Dual microphones enable voice replies to messages and potential connections to AI agents, though not natively built-in but hackable.

Founder Eric Migicovsky emphasized utility over bulky additions, omitting a built-in optical heart-rate sensor to focus on core features like step and sleep tracking. The watch supports classic Pebble apps and encourages user tinkering with custom watch faces, reintroducing whimsy to hardware. It also pairs with Pebble's upcoming Index 01 smart ring.

Priced at $199, the Round 2 is available for pre-order on Pebble's website, with shipping beginning in May 2026. Those who ordered the Pebble Time 2 can switch without issue. The announcement coincides with Pebble's CES showcase, where more details may emerge.

Hva folk sier

Initial reactions on X to the Pebble Round 2 announcement are largely positive, highlighting its ultra-thin design, two-week battery life, e-paper display, physical buttons, and support for thousands of apps. Users appreciate the nostalgic revival and improvements over the original, with some preferring its round shape to the Time 2. Tech journalists express excitement but note the May shipping delay. No significant negative or skeptical sentiments found.
