Norwegian PGA Tour rookie Kristoffer Reitan enters the final round of the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral tied for second place, six shots behind leader Cameron Young. Reitan gained entry to the $20 million Signature Event as a late alternate after withdrawals by Patrick Cantlay and Jake Knapp. His unexpected run has positioned him for potential spots in upcoming Signature Events.
Kristoffer Reitan's week at Trump National Doral began unexpectedly. Initially on the alternate list, he entered the field when Patrick Cantlay withdrew due to illness and Jake Knapp pulled out before Thursday's tee time with a wrist injury. Reitan arrived Wednesday without a full practice round, using his swing coach Denny Lucas as a substitute caddie for the opening 2-under 70. His regular caddie, Tim Poyser, missed the first round due to flight issues from Scotland but rejoined for Friday's bogey-free 68, followed by a Saturday 69 that vaulted him into contention. Reitan enters Sunday six shots back of Cameron Young. “It’s been a little bit of a whirlwind, emotionally, this week,” Reitan said Saturday. “Just mainly happy to be here and get a chance in one of the Signature Events. ... Thursday was very, very difficult mentally. I was just half prepared for playing a golf tournament.” He noted giving Poyser some good-natured ribbing for the absence, adding that it was out of his control. Reitan's strong showing builds on prior successes, including a dramatic DP World Tour win at the 2025 Soudal Open where he shot a final-round 62 from nine shots back to claim victory in a playoff. He also won the 2025 Nedbank Challenge and secured PGA Tour status with a top-10 in DP World Tour eligibility rankings. As a rookie this season, his prior bests were a T10 at the Valero Texas Open and T2 at the Zurich Classic. A top finish projects Reitan into the top 30 of FedEx Cup standings, earning starts at the Truist Championship, Travelers Championship, and Memorial Tournament. Currently listed for the Myrtle Beach Classic, his performance could reshape his schedule and solidify his PGA Tour status.
