Six suspects were arrested in a Minas Gerais Civil Police operation that intercepted a truck carrying 318.4 kilograms of marijuana in Belo Horizonte. The drugs came from Paraguay and were to be distributed in the state capital and metropolitan area.
The operation took place in the early hours of Friday, June 12, in the Universitário neighborhood in the Pampulha region. Agents from the State Department for Combating Drug Trafficking stopped the truck as it entered a mechanic shop used as a support point for redistributing the drugs.
The suspects, aged between 22 and 55, were to unload the cargo and transfer it to smaller vehicles. A logistics manager for the scheme was also arrested in Vespasiano.
Seized items included 439 bars of marijuana, the truck, four cars and an industrial scale. The action is part of Cerco Fechado, aimed at weakening criminal factions linked to drug trafficking in Minas Gerais. The detainees were taken to the prison system.
