Rangers top Flyers behind Zibanejad's record hat trick

The New York Rangers secured a road victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, improving their away record to 16-9-2. Mika Zibanejad starred with a hat trick, setting a franchise record for power-play goals. The win marked head coach Mike Sullivan's 500th career victory.

The New York Rangers continued their strong road form with a win against the Philadelphia Flyers, boosting their road record to 16-9-2. This marks the second-most road wins in the NHL this season, with 34 road points and 12 regulation road wins ranking third league-wide.

Offensively, the Rangers' power play proved decisive, notching their 27th goal of the season and the 10th since December 23. Over that span, their 35.7% power-play efficiency leads the NHL, and their 10 power-play goals tie for fourth overall.

Five Rangers players recorded multi-point performances: Mika Zibanejad with three goals, Artemi Panarin with two goals and an assist, Vincent Trocheck with two assists, Alexis Lafreniere with two assists, and J.T. Miller with two assists. Zibanejad's hat trick was his second this season and ninth as a Ranger, tying Bill Cook for the most in franchise history. He set a Rangers record with his 117th power-play goal, becoming the first active player to lead an Original Six team in that category. This extended his point streak to eight games (9 goals, 8 assists), the third-longest active in the league, and marked his ninth 20-goal season with the team.

Artemi Panarin played his 800th NHL game, extending his point streak to nine games (4 goals, 12 assists), the second-longest active. His nine-game assist streak is the longest in the league and ties his career high. J.T. Miller has four assists over his last two games and six points (1 goal, 5 assists) since returning from a seven-game injury absence on January 8.

Rookie Brennan Othmann scored his first NHL goal, while goaltender Spencer Martin earned his first win and start with the Rangers. Head coach Mike Sullivan reached his 500th career win in 966 games, the 12th-fewest games to achieve the milestone among NHL coaches and one of four active coaches to do so.
