Remains of missing West Virginia teen identified as Shayln Harvey

Authorities in West Virginia have confirmed that human remains found at a home in Big Chimney belong to 16-year-old Shayln Harvey. The teen was reported missing on May 4. Police are treating the case as a homicide.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office identified the remains on Monday after they were discovered on May 15 at the residence where Shayln lived with her mother and stepfather, James Truman. An autopsy has been completed, though officials have not released the cause of death. The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding her death.
