Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Agus Widjojo, Indonesia's Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, concurrently to the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of Palau, passed away on February 8, 2026, at 8:15 PM WIB at RSPAD Gatot Subroto in Central Jakarta. A family condolence message stated, "Innalillahi Wainnailaihi Rajiun Allahummaghfirlahu warhamhu wa'afihu wa'fuanhu. He has returned to the mercy of Allah... our husband/Papa/Father: Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Agus Widjojo." They hoped the deceased's deeds are accepted and the family is granted strength.

Agus Widjojo was born in Solo, Central Java, on June 8, 1947. He was the eldest son of Major General (Posthumous) Sutoyo Siswomiharjo, a revolutionary hero who fell during the G30S-1965 incident. Graduating from the Military Academy in 1970, his military career peaked as Commander of the TNI Staff and Command School. He was appointed Ambassador by President Joko Widodo on January 12, 2022, after serving as Governor of Lemhannas since April 15, 2016. Previously, he held positions as Deputy Chairman of the MPR TNI/Polri Faction in 2001 and Deputy I of UKP3R from 2006-2009.

Known as an "intellectual general" or "intellectual officer," Agus Widjojo advocated military professionalism and civilian supremacy. According to Prof. Dr. Didik J. Rachbini, who knew him since the 1990s, Agus was an intellectual architect who ended the ABRI dual function era. He believed a professional military emerges from democracy, not pragmatic power, and must submit to the constitution for national defense. His thoughts influenced the Reformasi transition, including calls to abolish the ABRI dual function and disband pam swakarsa. Rachbini described Agus as courteous, friendly, and insightful in discussions on military politics.

Agus was among senior officers like General Sayidiman Suryohadiprodjo, SBY, ZA Maulani, and General Prabowo with broad insights. As of now, no official confirmation on the burial has been provided.
