SA Rugby drops ticket prices for Springboks-England clash

The South African Rugby Union has cut ticket prices for the Springboks opening test against England at Ellis Park on Saturday. Several tickets are now available at R650 with prime seating reduced to R950. The union aims to increase attendance for the Nations Championship match.

The South African Rugby Union announced reductions after original prices between R950 and R3000 left more than 30,000 tickets unsold by afternoon on the day of the announcement. The changes apply to the 62,000-seat Ellis Park venue.

SARU wants the lower prices to move the stadium closer to 90 percent capacity for the inaugural Nations Championship fixture.

The decision follows reports of supporter concerns over the earlier pricing levels.
