The São Bernardo do Campo city hall, led by an ally of Tarcísio de Freitas, is evaluating not getting involved in Lula's candidacy launch scheduled for August in the city.
Led by Marcelo Lima (Podemos), an ally of Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos) with a history of opposition to the PT, the São Bernardo do Campo city hall stated that, in principle, it should not get involved in the event.
Lula's (PT) candidacy launch event is scheduled for the Estádio Municipal 1º de Maio, in Vila Euclides. The venue hosted the strikes of the late 1970s that projected the president nationally.
The stadium is managed by a private operator. The city hall said that, depending on the size of the event, organizers require support from the traffic sector and the Guarda Civil Municipal, which had not occurred until Monday morning (13).
Lula's team changed its initial strategy of starting the re-election campaign in Ceará. The PT seeks to reduce the advantage that the right and Governor Tarcísio de Freitas hold in São Paulo, according to voting intention polls.
