São Paulo's Military Police rejected the request from CSP-Conlutas and other union entities for an event on Avenida Paulista on Labor Day, May 1st. According to minutes from a meeting attended by unionists, right-wing movement representatives, and public bodies, the PM followed rules prioritizing earlier applications. Three bolsonarista groups—Patriotas do QG, A Voz da Nação, and Marcha da Liberdade—had already secured approval.
The force cited the 'election year and possibility of tension between the movements' as reasons. If CSP-Conlutas proceeds, the Shock Battalion will clear the avenue.
"This is absurd. Not only is the decision arbitrary and last-minute, but this day is globally dedicated to workers' struggles and their demands, and should be treated as such," said Luiz Carlos Prates, known as Mancha, a CSP-Conlutas leader historically linked to the PSTU.
The small bolsonarista groups plan a gathering at 11 a.m. in front of the Fiesp building, supporting Flávio Bolsonaro's (PL-RJ) presidential candidacy, criticizing the STF, and demanding freedom for Jair Bolsonaro. Patriotas do QG has 3,976 Instagram followers. The Secretariat of Public Security did not respond to inquiries.
