Shirley Jackson Awards name 2025 winners

The 2025 Shirley Jackson Awards were presented on July 11 at Readercon 35. The honors recognize excellence in horror, dark fantasy, and psychological suspense.

The ceremony took place on Saturday night with P. Djèlí Clark and David Gerrold serving as hosts and guests of honor. Awards went to works published in the prior year across seven categories.

Winners included Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker for novel and The Death of Mountains by Jordan Kurella for novella. In short fiction, “Bitter Skin” by Kaaron Warren took the prize.

Nadia Bulkin won for single-author collection with Issues with Authority. A tie occurred in edited anthology for Night & Day, edited by Ellen Datlow, and Unquiet Guests, edited by Dan Coxon. Vanessa Santos received the novelette award for “Emily.”
