Mamelodi Sundowns player Jayden Adams was found dead on 11 July in Cape Town. Police say no foul play is suspected. Tributes have come from his club, national team and family.
Adams, 25, was discovered at an apartment in Schotsche Kloof, Western Cape. Cape Town Central police registered an inquest after the body was found at 11.06am on Saturday 11 July. Spokesperson Frederick C van Wyk said investigations continue but foul play is not suspected.
Sundowns postponed a planned pre-season trip to Austria. Coach Miguel Cardoso paid tribute, saying Adams had adapted quickly and made the team play better. The South African Football Association sent a delegation to the family home in Ida’s Valley.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos expressed disbelief, noting the player’s talent. Adams had featured in three matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Family members described him as a quiet, supportive presence who reached the pinnacle of South African football after starting at Stellenbosch FC.
