Starz has secured exclusive U.S. rights to the six-episode South African action series 'The Nowhere Man,' starring Bonko Khoza and Naturi Naughton-Lewis. The show, which follows a former mercenary grappling with PTSD, will begin airing weekly on the network starting January 16, 2026. Naughton-Lewis, known from Starz's 'Power' franchise, also serves as an executive producer.
The series centers on Lukas, played by Bonko Khoza, a tormented ex-Special Forces mercenary who has abandoned his violent past to work as a junk collector on the streets of Johannesburg. Suffering from PTSD, Lukas witnesses a home invasion and intervenes, pulling him back into the dangerous world he had tried to leave behind. Naturi Naughton-Lewis portrays Ruby, a woman who aids him in rebuilding his life.
Currently available on Prime Video in South Africa, 'The Nowhere Man' is set for its U.S. debut on Starz in early 2026, with international distribution managed by Prime Video and Canal+. The production was filmed on location in South Africa by Motion Story, with Phillip Wolmarans and Nick Keulemans as producers. Directors Fred Wolmarans and Gareth Crocker helmed the episodes, the latter also acting as showrunner.
Naughton-Lewis, recognized for her role as Tasha St. Patrick in Starz's 'Power' and its spin-off 'Power Book II: Ghost,' expressed enthusiasm about the project. 'The Nowhere Man represents an exciting evolution for me as both an actress and executive producer, and I’m thrilled to have my company, Take Two Entertainment, as part of this incredible team,' she stated. 'It’s especially meaningful to be reunited with my Starz family to tell a bold, action-packed, globally relevant story.'
Alison Hoffman, president of Starz Networks, welcomed the acquisition. 'We’re thrilled to be reunited with Naturi, an extraordinary talent viewers know and love,' Hoffman said. 'The Nowhere Man is a powerful addition to our action lineup, and with our audience eager for the next high-octane thrill ride, this show delivers.'
Executive producers also include Chris Lawrance, Colleen Lawrance, Sean Mik’ael Butler, Naturi Naughton-Lewis, and Two Lewis.
