Sudaryono declares zero tolerance after hundreds of students suffer suspected MBG poisoning in Semarang

National Nutrition Agency chief Sudaryono visited victims of suspected free nutritious meal poisoning in Semarang and suspended the linked kitchen.

On Friday 31 July 2026 a total of 707 people including 693 students and 14 teachers at SMK Negeri 6 Semarang experienced dizziness nausea and vomiting after consuming meals from the free nutritious meal program.

Sudaryono visited the victims at RS Permata Medika RS Bhakti Tamtama and RS Pantiwilasa Citarum on Saturday 1 August 2026. He immediately suspended the MBG kitchen in Semarang.

Sudaryono declared zero tolerance for poisoning and corruption. He instructed SPPG heads to follow SOPs strictly including hand washing glove and mask use and to act decisively against violations.

An investigation team continues to determine the cause of the incident based on laboratory examinations.
