Suspect held in preventive prison for halloween homicide in concepción nightclub

Concepción's Guarantee Court ordered preventive prison for Jonathan Bórquez Torres, accused of murdering a 19-year-old during a Halloween party at a clandestine nightclub. The incident took place in the early morning of November 1, 2025, at the Museum venue on Manuel Bulnes street. The victim, Sebastián Valdebenito, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

On November 1, 2025, around 5:26 a.m., a homicide occurred at the clandestine nightclub Museum, located at the corner of Manuel Bulnes and Arturo Prat streets in Concepción. The victim, 19-year-old Sebastián Valdebenito, was at the front of the venue during a Halloween party when he was shot in the head, dying at the scene from a complicated traumatic brain injury.

According to prosecutors, the accused, 40-year-old Jonathan Bórquez Torres, was outside the club and fired into the interior with an illegally carried firearm. This followed a prior altercation with the victim. The Investigative Police (PDI) initially reported that unknowns fired at least seven shots toward the interior, based on ballistic evidence collected at the scene.

During the formalization hearing, Judge Milena Ubilla imposed preventive prison on Bórquez Torres for simple homicide and illegal possession of a firearm. The judge stated that his freedom poses a danger to societal safety and a flight risk, setting a six-month investigation period. The Public Ministry assigned the case to the Organized Crime and Homicides Team (ECOH) of the Prosecutor's Office, along with the PDI's Homicide Brigade (BH).

Bórquez Torres was arrested on Wednesday near Carriel Sur Airport in Talcahuano. The incident highlights risks associated with clandestine venues in the region.
