TCL Google TVs receive free upgrade with Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode

Many TCL Google TVs are receiving a no-cost software upgrade that adds Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode for improved movie accuracy along with other enhancements.

The update introduces Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode to support more precise viewing of films on affected models. It also brings an upgraded Dolby Atmos FlexConnect feature for better audio performance.

Following its CES 2026 unveiling of the flagship X11L SQD-Mini LED series, TCL released the QM8L super quantum dot mini-LED TV with up to 6,000 nits peak brightness and 4,000 local dimming zones. The QM7L is available for preorder starting at $1,200, and the premium RM9L RGB-mini LED TV starts at $8,000. These build on prior models like the QM8K with enhanced color and contrast.

Google has begun distributing a software fix for its original Chromecast dongles. The 4K Chromecast with Google TV is also receiving a major Gemini upgrade as part of recent updates.
