Tesla posts cybercab photos suggesting production readiness

Tesla's AI team shared Halloween photos of the Cybercab at an In-N-Out drive-through, featuring costumed passengers and a playful caption referencing the chain's menu. The images reveal design updates that make parts of the vehicle appear production-ready. This follows a tradition of Tesla prototypes visiting In-N-Out, as seen with the Cybertruck in 2023.

On October 31, 2025, Tesla's AI team posted images on X of the Cybercab at an In-N-Out drive-through, seemingly as a Halloween treat. The photos show the two-seater robotaxi with passengers in costume, accompanied by a Tesla Model Y Premium. The caption read 'Animal Style,' nodding to In-N-Out's popular secret menu item.

This lighthearted post highlights a tradition among Tesla teams. In 2023, engineers drove the Cybertruck to an In-N-Out about six months before deliveries began. Elon Musk has jokingly confirmed that taking prototypes through the fast-food chain marks a fun milestone, partly due to the proximity of many Tesla Supercharger sites to In-N-Out locations.

Observers noted several updates to the Cybercab compared to its unveiling a year ago. The front side repeater camera has moved slightly forward, the front end and light bar area are slightly redesigned, and the front lower lip is longer. The B-pillar area appears redesigned and shifted forward, with no gold paint on the tires. The door and window may now be frameless, similar to other Teslas, and it includes a front license plate holder, front amber reflectors near the wheel arch, and production-ready-looking headlights. Exterior mirrors are present, likely due to California law requirements, though they may not appear on production models in Texas.

These refinements, including an updated door and a refined front end with a license plate mount, suggest some components are production-ready. Production equipment installation at Giga Texas has been ongoing for months, with Cybercab tests ramping up on-site and public roads. Elon Musk confirmed last week that production will start in Q2 2026, indicating the design is nearly finalized and mass production could begin in about six months.
