Tesla updates referral program with FSD incentives

Tesla has revised its referral program in the US and Canada to emphasize Full Self-Driving (FSD) features. Buyers of Model 3 and Model Y vehicles now have options to try FSD for free or receive discounts on purchases. Referrers can earn rewards for both vehicle sales and FSD demo drives.

Tesla announced updates to its referral program on November 15, 2025, targeting the United States and Canada. The changes aim to promote FSD by offering incentives for trials and purchases alongside vehicle referrals.

For new buyers using a referral link to purchase a Model 3 or Model Y, the program provides two options: three free months of FSD (Supervised) or $500 off ($650 CAD) the purchase if they buy FSD. This replaces the previous incentive of three months free FSD for these models. Buyers of Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck receive $1,000 off the vehicle, as these models include FSD with the Luxe package.

Referrers benefit from adjusted rewards. For a Model 3 or Model Y referral, they earn $500 if the buyer purchases FSD, or $250 credit if not. For Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck, the reward remains $250 credit.

A new feature allows owners to earn $15 US ($20 CAD) for each new-to-Tesla friend or family member who completes an FSD (Supervised) demo drive. This is separate from vehicle sales referrals, with a lifetime limit of 30 such awards. The annual vehicle referral limit stays at 10, and owners who have reached this can still participate in demo incentives.

Additional discounts include $1,000 stackable offers for verified US military veterans, retirees, active-duty members, spouses, surviving spouses, first responders, students, and teachers. In Canada, first responders, students, and teachers qualify for the same $1,000 discount.
