The Guest List announce debut album Something Real

Manchester indie band The Guest List have announced their debut album ‘Something Real’, set for release on August 28. The group released the lead single ‘You Should Care’ on May 1 alongside new tour dates. The album explores themes of confusion, mental health, and hope in an overwhelming world.

The Guest List, a five-piece band from Manchester, revealed details of their first full-length album ‘Something Real’ on May 1. Recorded in Norway with Matias Tellez and partly produced by James Skelly of The Coral, the 12-track project balances heavy topics like mental health, climate change, and domestic violence with vulnerability and resilience. It includes the earlier single ‘Something Real’, released in February, which targeted trolls, comment bots, algorithms, and whistleblowers. Frontman Cai Alty described the album as “basically us saying, ‘we’re young, we’re confused just like you – how did we get here?’ It’s about trying to find something meaningful in a world that often feels overwhelming.” The band has built momentum over the past 18 months with their debut EP ‘When The Lights Are Out’, tours supporting Blossoms and Inhaler, and a UK headline tour at the start of 2026. Last month, they wrapped a UK run and now confirmed their largest tour yet, starting with European dates in October and UK shows in November. Upcoming performances include festivals like Isle Of Wight, Reading & Leeds, and Boardmasters. The lead single ‘You Should Care’ features Alty’s crooning vocals over atmospheric guitar, building to a chorus pleading, “You should care that I care/And when those strangers make you smile/ Do I come near/ Or do you lose me for a minute/ And there’s nothing left.”
