Thousands of people took part in a march in Madrid on Saturday to demand the resignation of President Pedro Sánchez and the detention of former President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
The March for Dignity, called by Sociedad Civil Española, began at 10:30 a.m. at Plaza de Colón and ended around 12:30 p.m. at the Arco de la Victoria in Moncloa. Between 40,000 and 120,000 people took part, according to the Government Delegation and the organizers.
Protesters chanted slogans such as "Sánchez, resign now!" and "Zapatero to jail". Vox leader Santiago Abascal said "Spain is held hostage by a corrupt mafia" and called for pretrial detention for Zapatero, who will appear before the judge on June 2.
A PP delegation led by Alicia García supported the protest without Alberto Núñez Feijóo present. Three people were arrested and seven police officers suffered minor injuries when security forces blocked the advance toward the Palacio de la Moncloa.
