Two children from the Munich district lost their way during a hike in the Chiemgauer Alps. Mountain rescue from Grassau was alerted to search at Hochplatte, but the children were found in time.
The eight-year-old daughter and twelve-year-old son had set out with their parents and acquaintances on a Mother's Day outing. The group hiked from the valley station toward Staffn-Alm at 1,050 meters elevation. The children went ahead using shortcuts and took separate paths toward the summit.
The parents lost contact and called mountain rescue. Shortly before the search began, the children were spotted by a four-person group. The girl recalled her mother's phone number and contacted her.
Four rescuers transported the children back by rescue vehicle. They were reunited with their parents nearly two hours after going missing.
