Two men were injured in separate lion attacks in Bhavnagar and Amreli districts since Sunday night, with both victims now undergoing hospital treatment, the Forest Department said.
In Bhavnagar district’s Garajiya village of Palitana tehsil, a sub-adult lion attacked Kalubhai Parmar around 9 am on Monday. The video shows the lion sitting on the injured man while villagers raise an alarm nearby.
Parmar was first shifted to Palitana Government Hospital and then to Bhavnagar Government Hospital. The Forest Department statement said Parmar understood the lion’s behaviour, stayed calm and ran his hand over its neck, after which the lion left without causing further injury.
In Amreli district’s Thhavi village of Savarkundla tehsil, Raju Vaghela was attacked by a lion while asleep in his hut around 10:45 pm on Sunday and suffered serious leg injuries. He was taken to Savarkundla Government Hospital. The Forest Department has intensified tracking and night patrolling in both areas.
