UCO report reveals rigging in Red.es contracts linked to Begoña Gómez

A UCO report details irregularities in three 2021 Red.es awards that benefited Juan Carlos Barrabés. Internal emails show manipulation of evaluations to favor his bids, which included recommendations from Begoña Gómez.

The Guardia Civil’s UCO report analyzes Red.es emails and concludes there was arbitrariness in awarding contracts worth over 12.5 million euros to Barrabés companies. February 2021 messages show instructions to prioritize his bid and lower competitors’ scores.

Investigators found that Barrabés’s non-compliance with a Libro Blanco requirement was hidden in case 044/20. The UCO notes evaluators referred to him by name and that official Luis Prieto Cuerdo set guidelines favoring his consortium.

The report went first to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and then to judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who opened a separate piece for prevarication and fraud. Red.es sources maintain the processes complied with the law.
