A man identified as KD was beaten to death by residents in Tabanan, Bali, after being accused of stealing a chicken early on Friday, 24 July 2026. A viral video of his daughter crying prompted offers of help from Hotman Paris, Deddy Corbuzier, PDIP, and a Bali senator.
The incident occurred around 01:30 WITA in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Desa Batunya, Kecamatan Baturiti, Tabanan regency. KD was reportedly caught trying to take a chicken belonging to I Wayan Adi Suteja. Residents frustrated by repeated thefts chased and beat him until he died at the scene. His motorcycle was also burned.
A video of the funeral showing KD’s daughter crying hysterically while calling “Bapak, bapak, bapak” spread widely on social media. Hotman Paris Hutapea posted a message urging children to appreciate their parents’ struggles and promised to pay for the child’s schooling.
Deddy Corbuzier offered psychological support in a comment: “Bawa anaknya ke saya. No content, no camera. I'll fix her”. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said the party would assist the victim’s family. Bali senator Shri I Gusti Ngurah Arya Wedakarna condemned the mob justice and pledged to cover the education costs of the victim’s children until university.
