Woman arrested for attempted murder after striking sister's head with hammer

Police in Fukuyama City have arrested a 46-year-old unemployed woman on suspicion of attempted murder after she struck her sister on the head with a hammer.

The incident took place at around 10 p.m. on Saturday at the sisters' home in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The victim suffered multiple head injuries but managed to seek help from a neighbor, who contacted the police.

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived but was arrested about an hour later on a nearby street. Police recovered the hammer close to the location of the attack.

The injured woman was taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities stated that her life is not in danger.
