Yankees set to activate Grisham and McMahon from injured list

The New York Yankees plan to bring back outfielder Trent Grisham and third baseman Ryan McMahon from the injured list in the coming days. Manager Aaron Boone shared the updates while the team was in Boston.

Aaron Boone said on Saturday that the Yankees expect to activate Grisham during their upcoming homestand, which begins on Monday. Grisham has been sidelined since June 13 with a strained right hamstring and has been taking part in baseball activities at Fenway Park. Boone noted that Grisham will likely need at least one minor league rehab game before returning.

Boone also reported that McMahon is improving after dealing with the after-effects of a peritonsillar abscess. McMahon returned to New York for workouts and is expected to be activated when eligible on Friday.

With Grisham out, the Yankees have used several players in center field. Boone said the returns will allow more stability in the lineup.
