India's youth cricket scene is buzzing with excitement as Under-19 stars transition to the big leagues in the IPL and WPL 2025. In the men's IPL, Ayush Mhatre debuted for Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians on Sunday at the age of 17 years and 278 days. Just a day earlier, on Saturday, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his entry for Rajasthan Royals versus Lucknow Super Giants, becoming the youngest IPL debutant ever at 14 years and 23 days.
Shifting to the women's Premier League, Parunika Sisodia, G Kamalini, and Niki Prasad all made their WPL debuts. Kamalini, playing for Mumbai Indians, etched her name in history as the youngest WPL debutant at 16 years and 213 days. Sisodia, also with Mumbai Indians, had previously earned the Player of the Match award in the U19 Women’s World Cup semi-final against England. Niki Prasad represented Delhi Capitals and showed promise by scoring 78 runs in three innings at an average of 39, with a top score of 35. She had recently won the U19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia.
