ANC members protest postponed Mangaung conference in Bloemfontein

ANC members in the Mangaung region gathered at the party's provincial office in Bloemfontein on Monday to protest the second postponement of their regional conference.

The gathering took place at Kaizer Sebothelo House after the conference was nullified due to voting irregularities. Four extra ballot papers had been discovered following an initial conference held last month.

A re-run had been scheduled by national leadership for May 29-30. Branch executive member Charles Mgwadleka criticised the decision, stating that only delegates can nullify a conference according to the constitution.

Mgwadleka noted the impact on preparations for the 2026 local government elections, where candidate names would have emerged from the conference.
