Coach Carlo Ancelotti released the 26-player squad for the 2026 World Cup on Monday. Neymar of Santos was included after months of speculation over his fitness.
Carlo Ancelotti announced the squad at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro. Forward Neymar, 34, joins the list for the fourth consecutive time.
The Italian coach said the player will have to compete for a spot in training. “He will play if he deserves to play,” Ancelotti said after the announcement.
The call-up repeated the three goalkeepers from the 2022 edition and raised the number of players from Brazilian clubs to seven. Flamengo leads with four representatives.
Neymar recorded commercials and celebrated on social media even before the official announcement. The team opens on June 13 against Morocco in the United States.
