Apple TV announces true crime docuseries Twisted Yoga

Apple TV has revealed Twisted Yoga, a new true crime docuseries set to premiere next week. The series explores the experiences of yoga students who encounter a controversial guru. All three episodes will be available on March 13.

Apple TV announced Twisted Yoga on March 5, 2026, marking a rare entry into the true crime docuseries genre for the platform. While streamers like Netflix have popularized the format with series such as Making a Murderer and Tiger King, Apple TV has previously offered limited content in this space, including The Big Conn, which examined a large-scale Social Security fraud.

Twisted Yoga follows a group of young yoga students from around the world who seek inner peace through the ancient practice. They become influenced by Gregorian Bivolaru, a reclusive Romanian guru and leader of an international network of yoga studios focused on tantric rituals. As concerns grow that they have joined a cult, the students uncover Bivolaru's troubling history. He reportedly summoned select female students to his Paris apartment for private initiations.

Currently, Bivolaru faces charges in France for human trafficking, kidnapping, and rape, which he denies. The women involved are cooperating with French authorities to pursue conviction. Apple TV provided this official summary: “Twisted Yoga” follows a group of young yoga students from around the world drawn to the ancient practice in search of inner peace and purpose, only to fall under the influence of reclusive Romanian “guru” Gregorian Bivolaru, the spiritual leader of an international network of yoga studios specializing in tantric rituals. As they begin to fear they’ve joined a cult, they discover that Bivolaru, who often summoned select female students to his Paris apartment for private initiations, has a dark past. Bivolaru now faces charges in France, including human trafficking, kidnapping and rape — allegations he denies — as these women work with French authorities to convict him.

The series premieres on Friday, March 13, 2026, with all three episodes dropping simultaneously. A trailer accompanies the announcement, highlighting the docuseries' focus on these events.
