An armed man held a woman hostage on a Tren Roca train at Temperley station on Monday, prompting a major police operation. The victim was released after negotiations, and the attacker, identified as Jorge Daniel Nicolini, was arrested. Train services were disrupted for over an hour.
The incident took place around 15:11 on a train stopped at platform 2 of Temperley station on the Tren Roca line. According to official sources, Jorge Daniel Nicolini, 50, boarded the train, attacked the woman, and threatened her with a firearm, also carrying a grenade.
Federal Police and Buenos Aires Provincial Police launched an urgent operation. They evacuated the remaining passengers and negotiated with the attacker, resolving the situation around 16:20 when Nicolini released the victim and was arrested on the platform.
The woman received assistance and is out of danger. Train services to Alejandro Korn and Bosques were suspended during the operation, resuming after 16:30, though delays and cancellations persisted afterward, as reported by TN.
Videos of the event, including passengers fleeing as the man boarded the wagon to escape police, went viral on social media. The investigation is ongoing to determine any prior links between the attacker and victim, under judicial oversight.
