Assassin's Creed Unity gets 60 FPS patch on PS5 and Xbox Series

Continuing its recent 60 FPS updates for older titles like the Far Cry series, Ubisoft has released a performance patch for Assassin's Creed Unity on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Launched on March 5, 2026, the update enhances the 2014 game's smoothness amid details on the franchise's future.

Assassin's Creed Unity, released for PS4 and Xbox One in 2014, now runs at 60 frames per second on current-gen consoles following today's patch from Ubisoft.

Announced in a blog post outlining the Assassin's Creed roadmap, the update lets players enjoy the 18th-century Paris setting and Arno's parkour more fluidly. The team stated, “We know some of you have been waiting for it for a long time, so get ready to re‑experience 18th-century Paris and Arno’s fancy parkour moves with more smoothness on consoles! And for our Xbox players out there, we’ve got a little treat, as multiple Assassin’s Creed games will be playable for free for a limited time for Xbox Free Play Days, from April 2nd to 6th! Perfect time to try Unity in that 60 FPS beauty.”

This follows January's 60 FPS patches for Far Cry 3 Classic, Blood Dragon Classic Edition, and Primal, part of Ubisoft's push to modernize its catalog—one of gaming's top sellers. Assassin's Creed: Shadows sold about 3 million copies in its first two months post-launch (75% on consoles). A Twitch event on March 20 will cover recent updates, though such patches may decline as focus shifts to new projects like the Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake, Hexe (a darker narrative title), and codenamed Invictus and Jade.
