Aston Martin takes encouraging step with 16 new parts in Hungary

Fernando Alonso achieved his first Q2 of 2026 at the Hungaroring thanks to Aston Martin's AMR26B. The team debuted 16 parts that improved the car's performance.

Adrian Newey, Aston Martin team principal, described the package debut as an encouraging step. The new parts include front wing, nose, brake aerodynamics, floor, diffuser and rear wing.

Alonso expressed satisfaction: «I feel happy, sure of myself, positive. I have recovered the adrenaline I had lost». The Spaniard beat Valtteri Bottas by 76 hundredths and Carlos Sainz by half a second.

Newey noted that more work remains and that the Honda engine will receive an update at the Dutch GP on August 23. The immediate goal is to consolidate the chassis before the summer break.
