Security forces captured Jovany ‘N’, alias ‘La Muñeca’, on Friday, June 26, in Yautepec, Morelos. The detainee is identified as a key figure in the homicide of Ximena Guzmán Cuevas and José Muñoz Vega.
The operation took place discreetly near the Mercado Municipal Centenario 1970 on Zaragoza Street. Jovany ‘N’, aged 32, was subdued without shots fired and transferred under heavy security.
According to investigations, ‘La Muñeca’ controlled drug sales points in neighborhoods including El Arbolillo I, San Felipe de Jesús and Impulsora, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. He maintained ties to Samuel Santos Carvajal, alias ‘El Chamaco’, now deceased and identified as a material author of the double homicide.
The detainee was placed before a control judge in Mexico City to determine his legal situation. President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo stated after the events that in her government “there will be no impunity or safe havens for those who threaten public peace”.
