Bayern Munich prepare for Champions League test at PSG

Bayern Munich head to Paris to face UEFA Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, aiming to extend their perfect start to the 2025/26 season. The Bavarians boast 15 straight wins across all competitions, while PSG sit top of the league phase standings after three rounds.

Bayern Munich's remarkable run of 15 consecutive victories in all competitions faces its sternest test yet when they travel to the Parc des Princes for a 9pm CET kick-off against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League league phase. The German champions, under Vincent Kompany, have dominated domestically and in Europe, including a 3-0 Bundesliga win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday that extended their record in Europe's top five leagues. In the Champions League, Bayern have racked up 12 goals in wins over Chelsea (3-1), Pafos (5-1) and Club Brugge (4-0).

Harry Kane leads the charge with 22 goals and four assists across 13 games, including five in the Champions League to co-lead the scoring charts alongside Kylian Mbappé. The Englishman, who has occasionally played as a No. 10, is expected to spearhead the attack, supported by fresh legs from Luis Díaz, Michael Olise and Kane himself after second-half substitute appearances against Leverkusen. Díaz, a summer signing from Liverpool, ranks second in Bundesliga assists behind Farès Chaïbi, while Olise has six goals and six assists in 14 outings. Serge Gnabry adds four goals in eight Bundesliga matches, and young Lennart Karl became Bayern's youngest Champions League scorer against Club Brugge. Nicolas Jackson has two European goals this season.

PSG, coached by Luis Enrique, top the league phase on goals scored and lead Ligue 1 by two points despite dropping points in four of 10 domestic games. They secured a 1-0 win over Nice via Gonçalo Ramos' 95th-minute strike and drew 1-1 with Lorient. However, injuries and suspensions hit hard: Désiré Doué is out for eight weeks with a thigh tear, Fabián Ruiz is muscularly injured, and Illia Zabarnyi is suspended after a red card in PSG's 7-2 win at Leverkusen on October 21. Ousmane Dembélé, the Ballon d'Or holder, Achraf Hakimi and Willian Pacho are set to start, with Lucas Hernández, a former Bayern player from their 2020 Champions League-winning side, possibly featuring.

Bayern hold a strong historical edge, winning four straight Champions League meetings with PSG and seven of 10 since 2000, including the 2020 final. Their only recent loss was a 2-1 defeat to PSG in the 2025 Club World Cup quarter-finals. Manuel Neuer is poised for his 154th Champions League appearance. Probable lineups see PSG with Chevalier in goal and Bayern relying on Neuer, but Bayern are without Alphonso Davies (knee), Hiroki Ito (foot) and Jamal Musiala (ankle, injured against PSG in July). Bayern have scored 54 goals in 15 matches, the most in Europe's top leagues, and conceded just two in the Champions League.

This clash pits Bayern's depth against PSG's attacking firepower, including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha, key to last season's triumph.
