Binhai New Area marks 20 years of opening-up drive

Airbus operates two A320 final assembly lines in the area. Roughly one in four Airbus aircraft delivered overseas in 2024 came from Tianjin. Katharina Wunderlich, general manager of Airbus Tianjin Final Assembly, said the lines provide key flexibility for global demand.

Boeing Tianjin Composites sources nearly half its materials locally. Danish firm Novo Nordisk has invested over 10 billion yuan there for more than three decades. The area hosts 247 Fortune Global 500 companies and cumulative foreign investment exceeding 100 billion U.S. dollars.

The China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, launched in 2008, has set green building standards later adopted by Britain and Denmark. Tianjin Juilliard School, opened in 2021, has graduated 185 master’s students from 23 countries.
