Bitcoin holds near $63800 amid U.S. strikes on Iran

Bitcoin traded around $63800 on Saturday with minimal movement following the latest U.S. airstrikes on Iran. Tehran declared the Strait of Hormuz closed until further notice. Other major cryptocurrencies showed similarly small daily changes.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed President Trump ordered the third round of strikes this week. The targets focused on Iran's capacity to attack commercial vessels after Iranian forces struck a Cyprus-flagged container ship.

Iranian state media reported explosions along the southern coast at sites including Bushehr, Asalouyeh, Bandar Abbas and Bandar-e Dayyer. Vessel-tracking data indicated traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained well below normal levels on Sunday.

Oil, stock and bond markets stayed closed for the weekend, leaving Bitcoin as one of the few large assets able to reflect the developments immediately. The muted price reaction continued a pattern seen in earlier escalations this year.
