The St. Louis Blues have acquired defenseman Calle Rosén from the Washington Capitals in exchange for defenseman Corey Schueneman. Both players will report to their new teams' AHL affiliates, with Rosén returning to the Blues organization after previously playing there from 2021 to 2024. The trade involves players who have performed well early in the current AHL season.

St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the acquisition of 31-year-old Swedish defenseman Calle Rosén from the Washington Capitals. In return, the Blues sent 30-year-old defenseman Corey Schueneman to Washington. Rosén, who hails from Vaxjo, Sweden, has recorded seven points (one goal, six assists) in nine games with the Capitals' AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, this season.

This move brings Rosén back to the Blues organization, where he spent three seasons from 2021 to 2024. During that time, he appeared in 108 games for the Blues' AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, helping them reach the Calder Cup Finals in 2022. In 49 regular-season games for the Blues in 2022-23, Rosén posted a career-high 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists). Across 360 career AHL games with Hershey, Colorado, Springfield, and Toronto, he has tallied 198 points (36 goals, 162 assists) and 148 penalty minutes. Rosén also won a Calder Cup with the Toronto Marlies in 2018 and participated in the AHL All-Star Classic in 2019. In 93 NHL games with Toronto, Colorado, and St. Louis, he has 11 goals and 20 assists.

Schueneman, from Milford, Michigan, has notched six points (one goal, five assists) in nine games with the Thunderbirds this season, leading Springfield defensemen in scoring and ranking fourth among all skaters. He played four NHL games with St. Louis in 2024-25, averaging 14:03 of ice time. In 63 games with Springfield that year, he recorded 20 points (four goals, 16 assists), a +8 plus-minus, and 109 shots. Schueneman's AHL career spans 316 games with Springfield, Colorado, Laval, and Stockton, yielding 116 points (26 goals, 90 assists). He has seven points (two goals, five assists) in 35 NHL games with St. Louis and Montreal.

Additionally, the Springfield Thunderbirds traded forward Sam Bitten to the Hershey Bears for future considerations. Bitten, in his fifth professional season, is scoreless in four games with Springfield this year and has three goals, six assists, and 180 penalty minutes in 93 career AHL outings.

Rosén will report to the Thunderbirds, while Schueneman joins the Bears.
