Emmy Award winner Brian Cox has joined the cast of Dexter: Resurrection season 2 on Paramount+ as the New York Ripper, a series regular. The character, no longer active as a killer, continues to taunt survivors of his past murder spree. Season 1 is streaming now on Paramount+ Premium Plan.
Brian Cox, known for his Golden Globe-winning role as Logan Roy in HBO's Succession, which ended after four seasons in 2023, takes on the role. He previously won an Emmy in 2001 for portraying Hermann Wilhelm Goering in TNT's Nuremberg. Paramount+ described the New York Ripper as having found a new way to live into his infamy despite no longer killing. No premiere date for season 2 has been announced. Penned by John Fusco of Marco Polo, the series follows the multi-generational Whitlock family and their stock car racing legacy tied to southern hill country roots, per Deadline. AMC's Dark Winds added Noel Fisher as recurring dangerous killer Michael Jorie and Devin Sampson-Craig as conflicted ranch-hand Daniel Ironwater, Jr., for season 5. Apple TV+'s untitled thriller from Homeland creator Alex Cary stars Dakota Fanning as an undercover Treasury agent torn between her mission and her feelings for heir Daryl McCormack, opposite Stellan Skarsgård. HBO/BBC's First Day on Earth, starring Michaela Coel as a British-Ghanaian novelist on the run, cast Fisayo Akinade alongside Thandiwe Newton, Maxine Peake, Danny Sapani and Ncuti Gatwa. Netflix's Tires season 3 added guests Rachel Blanchard, Garret Dillahunt, Anjelica Bette Fellini and Matt Walsh.
