Cajeme Mayor Javier Lamarque Cano announced about a month ago an indefinite veto against Brincos Dieras's performances in municipal venues and public events, lasting through his administration. The mayor stated that the show's content features dynamics that ridicule women and promote machismo and gender violence through jokes and interactive games with the audience. “In Cajeme, we have zero tolerance for any manifestation that promotes violence against women. He will never come here again while I am mayor,” he declared during a press conference.
Comedian Brincos Dieras, known for his clown humor shows, responded in an interview with Yadith Valdez on YouTube. He claimed the veto stems from an incident two years ago and implied political motivations. “That was two years ago when I went… the mayor wanted a spotlight, because he's on his way out. Maybe he wants to run for reelection,” he said.
The performer denied any broad conflict with local authorities, pointing out that municipalities usually hire him. “Normally, where I perform, it's the municipalities that contract me. They pay for the show because we bring people and that generates jobs,” he explained.
