BTS announces Netflix livestream concert and documentary

BTS is staging a major comeback with a livestreamed concert and a feature-length documentary, both premiering on Netflix in partnership with Hybe. The announcements highlight the group's return following a hiatus, tied to their new album release. The events mark significant milestones in their post-hiatus activities.

BTS revealed plans for an ambitious return to the spotlight, including a global livestreamed performance and a behind-the-scenes documentary, both set to air on Netflix. The livestreamed concert, titled “BTS the Comeback Live | Arirang,” is scheduled to stream on March 21 at 4 a.m. PT / 7 a.m. ET. It will take place in Seoul's Gwanghwamun square, immediately following the March 20 release of the group's new album “Arirang.” Directed by Hamish Hamilton, who has helmed most Super Bowl Halftime shows since 2010, the event will be the first live broadcast from Korea to be livestreamed worldwide.

One week later, on March 27, Netflix will debut the documentary “BTS: The Return.” Directed by Bao Nguyen, known for “The Greatest Night in Pop,” the film follows the seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, and Jung Kook—as they reunite in Los Angeles to create new music after their hiatus. The documentary captures their process of producing material that reflects their current selves, leading to what is described as a landmark album.

“Arirang” represents BTS' first full album since 2022's “Proof,” after which the group paused group activities to fulfill mandatory military service in South Korea and pursue individual solo projects. Building on this momentum, BTS announced a global tour last month, featuring 79 performances across 34 markets in 2026 and 2027. The tour kicks off with three homecoming shows in Goyang, South Korea, on April 9 and April 11-12, followed by dates in Tokyo and extensive stops in North America.

These Netflix projects and the tour signal a robust phase for BTS, reconnecting with fans through live performances and intimate insights into their creative evolution.
