California couple found dead after wife sent money in scam

Karen Whitaker, 79, and her husband Donald Whitaker, 80, were found dead in their California home on May 15 after she had been sending money to a scammer posing as actor Tom Selleck.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check at the couple's residence in the Bermuda Dunes Country Club. Authorities said the Whitakers died from traumatic injuries and are treating the case as a homicide. No arrests have been made.
