Club León is gearing up to face Monterrey at the Gigante de Acero this Saturday in matchday six of the Liga MX Clausura 2026. Under coach Ignacio Ambriz, the team has had a rocky start: one win against Cruz Azul in matchday one, a draw with Pumas, and losses to Pachuca, Tigres (at home), and Querétaro. It has conceded eight goals while scoring five, highlighting defensive woes.
Colombian forward Díber Cambindo, a former scoring champion with Necaxa, pointed out that the priority should be preventing goals before pushing forward. "Avoid conceding goals and then think about winning," he said, adding that the offensive responsibility lies with the entire team, not just him. Cambindo warned about the rival's quality, playing away, and the current negative goal statistics.
In defense, Vegas's expulsion in the last match creates openings. Right-footed Uruguayan center-back Valentín Gauthier raised his hand to play left central defender. "If I get the opportunity, I'll seize it and defend it to the death," Gauthier commented while heading to Monterrey. Though not his natural position, he assured he has worked on it and played there before.
