Cambodia to trial visa-free policy for Chinese citizens next year

Cambodia will introduce a visa-free trial policy for Chinese citizens from June 15 to October 15, 2026, according to an official document issued by the Cambodian government on Tuesday. Chinese nationals can stay up to 14 days without a visa.

Under the policy, Chinese nationals traveling from China to Cambodia will be allowed to stay for up to 14 days without applying for a visa or paying any related fees. During the four-month trial period, travelers will only need to complete an electronic arrival card and will be permitted multiple entries.

According to data from the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, the country received about 1 million Chinese tourist arrivals from January to October this year. This figure underscores the significant interest from Chinese visitors, and the policy could boost bilateral tourism ties further. The document specifies that the measure applies only to travelers departing from China and requires adherence to electronic entry procedures for smooth border management.

This initiative forms part of Cambodia's efforts to deepen relations with China, with the trial set to begin in mid-2026 to evaluate its effects on tourism recovery.
