Chat Pile has released details for their new album Who Loves the Sun, led by the single Deep Blue. The Oklahoma noise rock band shared a video for the track and comments on the record's themes.
The album follows the group's 2024 release Cool World and a 2025 collaboration with Hayden Pedigo. Its title references a Velvet Underground song from 1970, though the band said the link carries no deeper meaning. Singer Ray B. described the record as focused on grievances with the modern world, naming issues including AI, genocide, climate change and wealth hoarding. Bassist Stin said the project grapples with maintaining humanity amid anti-human forces and likened the single to a Billy Squier song. A video for Deep Blue shows unusual events inside a macabre barbershop. The full tracklist includes ten songs, from Creature to October All the Time. The band is touring Australia and New Zealand this month before North American dates later in the year.
