Chivas de Guadalajara kicked off the Clausura 2026 with a 2-0 win over Pachuca at Estadio Akron. Armando González and Daniel Aguirre scored the goals that secured the victory for the Rebaño Sagrado in Liga MX's opening round.

Chivas, coached by Gabriel Milito, lined up Raúl Rangel in goal; José Castillo, Bryan González, Carlos Govea, Luis Romo, Efraín Álvarez, Brian Gutiérrez, Daniel Aguirre, Richard Ledezma, Roberto Alvarado, and Armando González up front. The first goal came in the 17th minute, as Armando 'Hormiga' González tapped in after Richard Ledezma's through ball to Brian Gutiérrez, whose shot was deflected by the Tuzos' defense. Earlier, at the 16th, González missed a similar chance against Moreno's advance. Chivas controlled possession, with Alvarado's attempts at 27' and 44', Ledezma at 31', and Gutiérrez's header at 37' going just over.
Just before halftime, at 45'+5, Daniel Aguirre made it 2-0 with a finish in the box from Efraín Álvarez's low cross started on the left flank. In the second half, Chivas held firm; at 54', Bryan González headed close to a third. Substitutions saw Ledezma and González exit at 62' for Ángel Sepúlveda and Miguel Gómez, and at 85', Gutiérrez and Álvarez for Hugo Camberos and Yael Padilla. Pachuca pushed at 73' with Salomón Rondón's shot, but Rangel saved it.
The 2-0 win signals a strong start for Chivas, aiming to revive title hopes after a mixed Apertura 2025. Pachuca, hampered by key absences, now faces León and América.
