Premiere Details

Collingwood Killings is a limited dramatic series set to air starting November 6 on Bell Fibe TV1. The show was written and directed by Tracey Strnad, with production by her husband Tom Strnad, through their locally based Mountain Goat Film Company. It marks Tracey's follow-up to her feature film debut, Labour Day, which competed officially at the Cinequest Film Festival.

The series centers on Madison, who returns to Collingwood after her big-city aspirations falter, only to discover suspicious deaths and hidden town secrets. As a murder mystery, it emphasizes Collingwood's authentic character, unlike its previous role as a rural American town in the 1996 film The Long Kiss Goodnight, starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson.

Cast and Production Highlights

Leading the cast are Hannah Gordon (Workin' Moms, The Comey Rule, Good Witch), Kim Huffman (Wild Roses, The Handmaid's Tale), and Yasmin Lau (Orphan Black, The Handmaid's Tale). Collingwood local Dean Hollin, host of Radio Limelite on Zoomer Radio, also features in a lead role. Voiceovers are provided by long-time Peak FM radio host John Eaton, delivering local news snippets. The score incorporates music from Shipyard Kitchen Party, singer-songwriter Tim Stead, and composer Hanne Poulsen.

Iconic Collingwood locations appear throughout, including the Dorchester Hotel, Moguls Bar and Grill, Collingwood Museum, Collingwood Harbour, and Collingwood Public Library. The show's logo draws from the town's grain terminals, using their actual lettering.

Creator Insights

"Creating a series with Collingwood playing itself was at the heart of this production," said producer Tom Strnad. "There is a lot of talk about Canadian pride and Canadian content and we wanted to take it one step further with an homage to an iconic Ontario town and the community of Collingwood."

Tracey Strnad added, "This show will bring something new and fresh to the crime and mystery genre with a very unique and distinctly rural and Southern Ontario tourism town vibe, that can only be found in Collingwood."

Tom Strnad noted the show's potential reach: "Collingwood has millions of unique visitors annually with Toronto being a major source of tourism due to the weekend ski and snowboard warriors. Collingwood Killings will offer a taste of Collingwood for Southern Ontario viewers and bring a ‘Collingwoodian’ drama to viewers across Canada."
